KILDARE COUNTY COUNCIL

PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES

SECTION 38 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1994

In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of its intention for the:

Scoil an Linbh Íosa, Prosperous - Safe Routes to School Scheme comprising of:

  • Implementation of Safe Routes to School measures, including pencil bollards and road markings, to improve safety for vulnerable road users at the school.
  • Reconstruction & widening of the footpath outside of Scoil an Linbh Íosa to promote safe active travel & the relocation of the Raised School Warden Crossing outside of the school.
  • Installation of six (6) raised uncontrolled pedestrian crossings with junction tightening on roads adjoining the R403 and Hatters Cross Road in close proximity to Scoil an Linbh Íosa.
  • Installation of one (1) uncontrolled at grade pedestrian crossing at Curryhills Park and one (1) uncontrolled crossing in Barrington Court to improve safety for vulnerable road users.
  • Installation of one (1) uncontrolled at grade pedestrian crossing with localised carriageway narrowing on the R408, to improve safety for vulnerable road users.
  • Construction of a new 2m wide footpath to link Scoil an Linbh Íosa with Goretti Terrace with one (1) upgraded raised uncontrolled pedestrian crossing.
  • Car parking directly outside of Scoil an Linbh Íosa removed and replaced with a regulated bus set down zone and two (2) accessibility parking spaces.

Drawings showing the proposed works will be available for inspection at the following locations from the Tuesday 21 April 2026 to Wednesday 27 May 2026.
